Dear Marianne: Are there any toys that will help my preschool daughter learn to share? Peggy, Cleveland, OH, Mom of Katie (3 1/2)
I would suggest toys that promote turn-taking. Board and card games encourage this while having fun. Be sure to play with her and really emphasize how proud you are when your child waits for a turn. Clapping, verbal encouragement and positive reinforcement will make this all part of the game. She may soon realize that sharing can be fun. more...
Any new parent will probably agree that you can never have enough of burp cloths! When traveling or visiting, a burp cloth can also be a fashion statement for mom. This set of 3 burp cloths are beautifully embroidered with images of either a red wagon, ruby slippers, sailboat, flower or duck. The sides feature ribbons with polka dot and check patterns. Each can be personalized with baby’s name. The key to any burp cloth is that is washes well. We triple washed the fabric to find that it holds up well in the washing machine and dryer, though we prefer to air dry. A mild stain remover can be used if necessary.
"Makes an ideal “wrapping paper” for a small baby gift."

Toy Tips to Parents: Time to Unplug
Don't over stuff the toy box with tech toys. When is technology too much technology?
While tech toys are popular and some can be educational, the latest round of newcomers at Toy Fair makes it clear we're going too far into technology assisted play. It seems technology now permeates almost every kind of toy category on the toy shelves. Parents run the risk of stocking the playroom with items that undermine the important developmental aspects of childhood play.
