Magnify images up to 35x with this digital microscope. The microscope features a built-in camera which, when connected to a computer via an included USB cable, displays the magnified image on the computer’s screen. An internal illuminator aids in viewing the image. Photos and videos can be captured and saved with the digital camera. Software is included in the package. Our testers found the installation to the computer to be fast and easy. They were able to save their photos and view them side-by-side on the computer screen, allowing them to compare and contrast the images. The zOrb is compatible with Microsoft Windows 98SE, ME, 2000, XP, XP Service Pack 3 Upgrade, Vista and MAC OSX 10.4 or later. A USB 2.0 port is required.
"Note: Our testers were most impressed with the microscope image of fruit slices which appear so simple to the naked eye but were so complex when viewed at 35X."

While tech toys are popular and some can be educational, the latest round of newcomers at Toy Fair makes it clear we're going too far into technology assisted play. It seems technology now permeates almost every kind of toy category on the toy shelves. Parents run the risk of stocking the playroom with items that undermine the important developmental aspects of childhood play.
